Anti-Vivisection Protest in Memory of Jill Phipps
In memory of Jill Phipps we will hold a protest at the Gates of Hell, Charles River, Margate on Saturday 1st February 2025 12pm – 2pm.
Jill was passionate animal rights activist. On 1 February 1995, activists broke trhough police linces trying to stop live export trucks by sitting in the road or chaining themselves to them. Jill was crushed to death under the wheels of a truck carrying live baby veal calves into Coventry Airport in Baginton, England. Her injuries were fatal and included a broken spine.
The Crown Prosecution Service did not charge the driver, Stephen Yates. Jill’s family believe that the police were to blame for her death, because the police allowed the convoy of lorries to keep moving despite the protest.
While they still torture animals at Charles River, we will protest. We will have placards and leaflets but you can make your own placard.
