The Campaign
The Camp Beagle campaign began in summer 2021 as an unplanned public response to a national press expose showing beagles from MBR being loaded into vans for transport to laboratories. Since then, Camp Beagle has operated 24/7, working tirelessly and passionately to close MBR Acres and to raise public awareness about animal testing.
In the early stages, the focus was on transforming a spontaneous and scattered outcry reaction into an organised campaign with a clear strategy supported by a functioning long-term camp. We have now built a well established camp and a focused campaign to increase public awareness, inspire change and built political pressure.
The Camp Beagle campaign has developed a threefold strategy that focuses on investigating the suffering of the dogs through their constant presence at the camp, the use of drones, hidden cameras & whistleblowers; exposing the cruel conditions in which the dogs are bred via a large online community of committed followers & press coverage; and building political pressure through parliamentary petitions & debates advocating for Non-Animal Methods.
Join our campaign:
- WE INVESTIGATE the hidden secrets of MBR and gather evidence on the suffering of the MBR beagles.
- WE EXPOSE their secrets, far and wide, to raise public awareness on the cruelty of animal testing and the existence of scientifically superior non-animal methods (NAMs.)
- WE BUILD POLITICAL PRESSURE to urge politicians to end animal testing and introduce NAMs.
Our Patrons – Isabelle & Ron
Isabelle Keane…
became our patron in July 2024 at the young age of nine. After finding out about the MBR beagles from her nana, she chose to stand up for the dogs with a conviction that inspires everyone around her. She is a compelling and eloquent speaker and writer. She regularly handwrites honest, emotive letters to the authorities to raise awareness about the MBR puppies and to rally support. Among others, she has written to the Royal Family and received a reply from the Queen, and to Keir Starmer as soon as he became Prime Minister — although he never replied. She has also given numerous public talks advocating for the freedom of the MBR beagles and regularly posts on social media to raise public awareness.
Since becoming a Camp Beagle patron, she has launched our parliamentary petitions from camp, attended Parliament Square for debates, and helped to raise signatures. She has also met her own MP face to face to discuss her concerns about MBR Acres and to ask him to support the cause.
She is an extraordinarily powerful speaker, a prolific writer, a courageous campaigner, a compassionate child, and a true inspiration. We are proud to have her as Patron of Camp Beagle and feel that her involvement has given the campaign a fresh and powerful energy. She represents the next generation of advocates and is proof that children can often express empathy and determination in ways adults sometimes overlook.

Ron Green…
became our patron in February 2022 at the age of 101. As a young man, Ron spent six wartime years in the RAF, qualifying as a pilot and aircraft engineer. Following the Second World War, he became a primary school teacher and taught at many schools in the UK and Australia. Later in life, he became a vocal activist for a fairer world and a fundraiser for good causes. He became vegan at the age of 100, saying, “It is never too late to learn.”
In June 2022, Cambridgeshire Police went to Ron’s house looking for five beagle puppies that had been liberated a few days earlier by Animal Rising. Ron did not give in to intimidation and was delighted to know the puppies were safe in a loving forever home elsewhere.
Ron passed away peacefully on 22nd December 2022, just a few days after 20 beagles had been liberated from MBR Acres by Animal Rising. He was a wonderful family man who loved singing, sharing a laugh, and helping others. He was a true gentleman who was never afraid to speak his mind or to stand up for freedom. We feel honoured to have met him and to have shared our passion for a world free from cruelty to animals.
He will always be with us and will remain our forever patron until the closure of MBR.

Our Ambassador – Scarlett
Scarlett, Beagle Ambassador and Heroine…
was born at MBR Acres in USA, as proven by the number tattooed in her ear. She was later rescued by Beagle Freedom Project from a toxicology laboratory in Hungary, and Janie and Phil adopted her here in the UK. They helped her to heal the trauma she experienced during her life at MBR and the lab by giving her love and devotion and have ensured she has the life that every dog deserves. Scarlett has been campaigning for the release of all the laboratory animals especially her fellow beagles. She regularly visits camp with Janie and Phil, has attended Parliament Square during petition debates and has met wit many celebrities and politicians to raise awareness about the plight of the MBR beagles and all the animals suffering in laboratories.
