Right To Protest – Injunction

Right To Protest – Injunction

MBRs response to Camp Beagle setting up a permanent protest site at their gate has been to request an Injunction to the Royal Court of Justice, to ban everyone from protesting against them, near their animal breeding facilities in Huntington and Hull. After two years of hearings at the High Court in London, the case went to trial in April 2023, lasting 6 weeks in total. John Curtin, a Camp Beagle supporter, represented himself and stood in court to defend people’s right to legally protest outside of the MBR Acres facilities until they close down and free the beagles. This gave him the opportunity to cross-examine the MBR managers and workers in Court.

MBR’s legal expenses for this case have been well over £3 million so far. They were asking the court to ban any form of protests for one mile around MBR, yet the judge upheld the right to protest and Camp Beagle is still present and protesting at their gates every single day.
