Today, Sunday 20th July 2025, supporters of Camp Beagle have gathered outside Cambridgeshire Police Headquarters in Huntingdon to protest against what they describe as the misuse of taxpayer money and police resources to facilitate the operations of MBR Acres and the movement of puppies by Impex Services International.
The protest follows recent Community Protection Notice (CPN) warning letters issued to 4 Camp Beagle activists.
Protesters argue that CPNs are intended to protect communities, not businesses, and accuse the police of unfairly targeting peaceful demonstrators instead of addressing the ethical concerns surrounding MBR Acres – a breeding facility supplying beagles for toxicology testing.
Key Concerns:
– Taxpayer-funded police escorts for MBR Acres workers and Impex Services International, the courier company responsible for transporting beagle puppies to laboratories.
– Misuse of CPN powers to suppress legitimate protest against animal testing.
– Demand for transparency in policing priorities, urging Cambridgeshire Police to stop enabling an industry many consider outdated and cruel.
– Demand the Constabulary withdraw the CPN warnings for those effected and ultimately to cease usage of such oppressive measures going forward.
Quote from a Camp Beagle Spokesperson:
“The police should be protecting the public, not acting as private security for a controversial business that profits from animal suffering. CPNs are meant for community safety, not to silence those standing up for ethical treatment of animals.”
“We call on Cambridgeshire Police to stop wasting public money on propping up this cruel trade.”
