Since leaving the EU, the UK has failed to report the shocking number of animals bred for experiments but never used — and most likely killed.
European legislation required the Home Office to record this figure. In 2017, there were 1,810,091 non-genetically altered (non-GA) animals that were bred for scientific procedures but were killed or died without being used in procedures.
For as long as the government’s annual statistics on animal research ignore these animals entirely — their stats will remain misleading and incomplete.
Please contact your MP and ask them about the millions of unaccounted animals bred for vivisection but never killed without ever being used.
How can we have transparency and accountability if every animal is not recorded and reported?
