The government is ready to criminalise protesting against animal testing, just like they did 20 years ago.
They are getting ready to alter the Public Order Act 2023 to ensure animal testing facilities are not open to public scrutiny.
Section 7(6) of the Act lists the types of infrastructure considered to be “key national infrastructure” and makes it an offense to interfere with their operation .
This list currently includes these infrastructures:
▪︎ Road, Rail, and Air transport
▪︎ Harbour
▪︎ Oil and gas
▪︎ Onshore electricity generation
▪︎ Newspaper printing
And now they want to add “Life Science Sector”… not science or technology in general… because it is ONLY the sector that uses live animals that is key infrastructure to the nation!!
The penalty for interfering with their operation, including acts that prevent or “significantly delay” them is up to 12 months in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.
Bear in mind this will include not only contract laboratories, pharmaceuticals and breeding sites like MBR, but also the many universities where animals are experimented on the Royal Veterinary College.

Please send this email to your MP to oppose proposed amendments to the Public Order Act 2023, which could see people imprisoned for up to 12 months for protesting against animal testing.
Your MP can stop this law change. Ask them to VOTE NO in the chamber. Please send email and share this post: https://action.naturewatch.org/shhh-you%E2%80%99ve-been…
