Camp

The Camp

Camp Beagle was established in the summer of 2021 at the gates of MBR Acres.  MBR Acres is an industrial puppy farm, breeding beagles for toxicology testing. Since then, people have been living on-site in tents and campervans, tirelessly working to build a global campaign to close down MBR Acres and secure the freedom of the beagles.

Protestor in van

Residents and visitors stay in tents and campervans.

Camp Beagle is both a protest site and the headquarters of our campaign. It is located on a grass verge between the B1090 road and the dog breeding facility, just outside of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

We hold daily pickets when the workers arrive and leave (7.30am & 4pm on weekdays. 7am & 10.30am on weekends).  We have many banners, placards and artworks on display along the road. We monitor the gates 24/7 to witness and broadcast live every time Impex (delivery) vans come to take beagle puppies from MBR to the laboratories, as well as monitoring their activities at the breeding site.

Some people stay at camp for long periods of time, others stay for short periods, and some come for regular or one-off visits. We are an all-inclusive, law-abiding protest group, and we welcome people from all walks of life who love dogs.  There are four resident Camp Beagle dogs: Freddie, Mylo, Willow and Pepe.

Camp dogs

We encourage our supporters to visit camp for three main reasons:

  • to bear witness to the puppies cries, the smell coming from the sheds and the razor-wire fences hiding the industrial units where the dogs are confined 24/7.
  • to support the people who are at camp for long periods, dedicating their lives to closing down MBR Acres, working to raise public awareness and building pressure against this dog breeding site.
  • to simply get a taste of the Camp beagle experience, a unique and historic landmark.

Facilities at camp:

  • There is a lounge tent, a fully equipped kitchen tent, a washroom tent, and a portaloo toilet.
  • We have solar panels and a generator for electricity and a 1,000 liter container for running water as well as bottled water for drinking.
  • In the winter we keep warm with gas heaters inside insulated tents, and in the summer we have outside seating areas.
  • There are parking areas on either side of the camp on a wide verge.
  • Wifi and phone charging points are available.
