Synopsis
He was born into a laboratory. No name — only a number tattooed in his ear. For more than seven years, Sammy the Beagle knew nothing of sunlight, comfort, or love. BLESSED is a powerful 10-minute, 35-second animated short based on the true story of Sammy, a research dog adopted by holistic canine wellness expert Tamara Tokash. The film chronicles his emotional journey from silent suffering to healing and joy — showing what’s possible when we choose compassion over cruelty. Inspired by Tamara’s book *BLESSED – A Laboratory Research Dog*, the film was brought to life by Creative Director and marketing strategist Tiffany Kay, in collaboration with Tamara. The project blends moving visuals, original narration, and real-life footage to highlight the impact of adoption and the resilience of animals.
Background & Purpose
Tamara Tokash has spent decades helping dogs heal — emotionally, physically, and nutritionally — through her private practice, canine wellness education, and public advocacy. Adopting Sammy transformed her mission into something even more personal. This film was born out of that bond. Together, Tiffany and Tamara created BLESSED not only to honor Sammy, but to raise awareness for the thousands of dogs still confined to laboratories around the world. This is not a story about sadness — it’s a story about hope, healing, and second chances.
