Last year we documented the life of Larissa from her Birth to being 16 weeks old – her trials and tribulations, her good points and not so good points and contrasted her perfect life to the beagles who had the misfortune of being born at MBR Acres.
8 Months has passed since we wrote about her ’16 weeks’ – for her it’s another day with her family – for the MBR Acres beagles it meant being listed on a spreadsheet and subsequent invoice and await the Impex death van.
In the 8 months since the update it has meant in the region of 1,200 poor beagles being shipped to labs such as Charles River, Sequani or Labcorp(se) – for Larissa it has meant in the region of 500 family walks, countless cuddles, numerous kisses and most of all, security and love from her family.
Today is Larissa’s 1st Birthday a birthday which will be celebrated with a dog friendly cake – for MBR Acres born beagles only a handful will be alive today those ‘lucky’ enough to be selected for breeding purposes. – most other beagles would have endured painful and relentless testing upon, euthanised, if the testing hadn’t killed them already, dissected and unceremoniously thrown into yellow hazard bags awaiting collection by Stericycle.
The only record of their existence on God’s earth being a number on a despatch note, an invoice and the ‘experiment’ data which by now would have been filed away never to see the light of day again.
So join Camp Beagle in celebrating the Birthday of Larissa but also remember the poor unfortunate Beagles of MBR Acres who, without consent, were murdered for no other reason than the bottom line profit on a Corporate spreadsheet.
RIP in peace MBR Beagles some of us are fighting for you each and every day.
