The laboratory where the beagle puppies were taken to yesterday (Thursday 16th January 2025) is in financial crisis, due to an investigation on the illegal smuggling practices involving long tailed macaques from Cambodia.
Charles River Laboratories was expecting to make $650 million revenue on long tailed macaques experiments during 2025.
The potential suspension is great news for Cambodia’s wildlife but it’ll put pressure on other countries exporting long tailed macaques like Mauritius.
Animal testing is a global epidemic and the fight against it must also be global.
